Ito Kurdhi was born in Central Java, graduated from IKIP (Universitas Negeri) Jogjakarta, Music Departement. Starting music career in Bali, playing jazz music in several 5 stars hotel in Bali such as ; Grand Hyatt, Four Season, Chedi, etc. He learned any kind og music to fill his experienced and skill. Rio Sidik

Rio Sidik was born and raise in Surabaya, Java -Indonesia. Music was always a big part of his life starting from the days he was in his mother’s belly! Sidik’s first appearance on stage was at the age of 10 with his brothers and sister, going on to appear regulary with his grandfather’s big band. His ‘master’ as he calls him is his grandfather who was a trumpeter in the Navy and still continues to perform and teach. His grandfather, Daryono, gave him an incredibly strict education which has left him with a strong work ethic and commitment to his music. Sidik recall when he was 5 minutes late for his lesson, his grandfather threw his mouthpiece into the well and refused to teach him for weeks. (more…)

Tribute To John Coltrane

John Coltrane, American jazz saxophonist and composer was revived that night at WEDNESDAY JAZZ. Free jazz which pioneered by John Coltrane was beautifully played by David Ades (Australian saxophonist) together with Ito Kurdhi (Bass, Vocal), Jako (Guitar) from Ito Jazz Trio and Pierre (Italian drummer). Lazy Bird, Blue Train, In Sentimental Mood and Impression are some of John Coltrane that they played. This “Tribute to John Clotrane” perfectly completed when Bertha McCarthy (Indonesian Singer) join to stage. Bertha McCarthy or better known as “mbak Bertha” has a heavy voice as owned by most of the jazz singer.  Bertha also a vocal teacher.
